Poker - What is a Sit-N-Go Tournament

How to play Poker Sit-N-Go games

Sit-N-Go (SNG), also called single table tournament, can be played between 6 to 10 players. It is best for players who don’t want to commit to the table for a long period of time.

The objective of a Sit-N-G0 game is to earn all the chips of the opponents by outwitting them. There is no scheduled starting time of the tournament. Whenever you want to play, you can sit on a vacant seat on the game table. As soon as a specific number of players join the table, the game begins. To play, each player pays the buy-in and gets a fixed number of chips.

An SNG tournament usually ends within an hour. The playing rules are similar to MTT (Multi-table tournaments). There is a lot of learning material out there to help you learn how to play Poker game, basic rules, betting structure, and playing styles.

If you lose all your chips during the game, you cannot re-buy to join the tables again. The last remaining player on the table becomes the winner and gets the biggest portion of the prize pool. The rest of the prize pool is divided among the top finishers as per the tournament rules.

Types of SNGs

SNGs are categorized on the basis of the number of participants such as 2 handed (heads-up), 4-handed, 6-handed, 9-handed, etc. Every tournament has its own set of rules related to prize pool distribution. In a 2-handed game, the winner gets the entire prize money. In a 6-handed game, the prize pool is split between the top two finishers.

Blinds increase at a steady rate as the tournament progresses (every 10 minutes). You can get all the information about the blind structure in the tournament lobby.

Turbo SNGs

Turbo is a popular SNG format. In a Turbo tournament, the blind raises much quickly as compared to the regular format. A Turbo tournament can be played in Super Turbo and Hyper Turbo formats. In both of these formats, blinds increase swiftly. You have to take quick decisions as per the constantly changing situation on the game table.

Other popular variants of SNGs -

Satellite SNGs - The players can win entry to a larger buy-in live or online tournament.

Knockout Bounty - The player earns ‘bounty’ by eliminating other players from the tournament. For every opponent you knock out, you get bonus rewards.

Double Or Nothing - In this type of SNG tournaments, you can either win double your buy-in or nothing at all. You don’t have to be among the top finishers to earn the reward. When 50% of the total participants get eliminated due to losing their chips, the remaining 50% players get double their buy-in. The eliminated players get nothing from the total prize money.

At online Poker platforms, SNG games are available around the clock. Whenever you want, you can log in to your Poker account and join the tables. Along with the cash prizes, another great benefit of playing online is that you can avail amazing Poker bonus offers, deposit deals, loyalty programs, leaderboard points, and much more. You can also download a Poker app on your Android or iOS device to enjoy playing SNG games as per your convenience.
